Bride and Groom’s FAQs


Can I create my list online? Yes, our online wedding list enables our brides and grooms to create their list online see Creating your list for more information. However, we do encourage all our couples to visit us in store, enabling us to offer you experience, advice and personal service that you won’t benefit from solely using the online service.

Can I order this item in a different pattern, colour or design? Yes, if the product is available from the manufacturer/supplier, we will endeavour to get it for you in the requested colour, pattern or design.

Can my guests buy gifts online? Yes, as of Spring 2015 we launched an online wedding service. This enables your guests to view your list via our website, choose a suitable gift and then be guided through the purchasing process. Your guests will be offered the same delivery options which are offered in-store: in-store collection or delivery to the bride and groom.

Am I obliged to buy the remaining items on my list? No, you are not obliged to purchase the remaining items.*However, exceptions apply – some special order items may require purchase – we will inform you of any such circumstances at time of ordering.

Can I make amendments and alter my list after it has been registered? Yes, you can make changes to your list up until the date of your wedding, simply contact your designated bridal consultant in store and they will be happy to help.

Can I use a hand-held scanner to create my list? We ask that you make a manual note of items which you would like to place on your gift list on our Wedding List form. Our Bridal Consultant will then scan your chosen items to create your list. Alternatively, you can create your list online.

What if someone buys a gift which isn’t on my wedding list? We always try to encourage your guests to purchase items from your list, however if they are shopping for your gift in store we unfortunately cannot insist on this. If you have a query concerning any gift you receive, please contact your designated wedding list consultant. Gifts which not bought off the wedding list may not be included in your 5% Thompsons Gift Voucher amount.

Do Thompsons Gift Vouchers purchased by my guests count towards the total spend of my list? Yes, Gift Vouchers purchased from your wedding list will be included in your total spend. Currently, we do not have a gift voucher facility on our website therefore gift vouchers can be purchased in-store or by calling our Wedding Team on +44 (0)28 2827 2509.

Do Thompsons keep a record of names of guests who buy off my list? Due to customer discretion and data protection, we cannot keep a record of guests names who purchase from your wedding list. Each gift we deliver will be sent with a gift card with personal message from the guest who purchased the gift.
